The first Move of Grace

The first Move of Grace occurs in Genesis 3, after Adam and Eve ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, defying God’s command. They became aware of their nakedness which represented not just physical exposure but also spiritual brokenness and guilt. Instead of abandoning them, God took immediate action to cover their shame. This act of clothing them is often understood as the first “move of grace” because it shows God’s compassionate response to human failure, not condemnation.
